The iconic Dutch artist Vincent Van Gogh and his life have been portrayed on the big screen by several actors over the years.
Local Van Gogh author Dr. Irv Kaufman Arenberg will lead participants in viewing and discussing three movies that portray Van Gogh’s life and mysterious death.
Fans of the Dutch painter can look forward to this movie series, a press release stated. “Lust For Life” focuses on the struggles of the painter to find a career he was passionate about and will be shown Wednesday, Feb. 28.
“Vincent & Theo,” portraying the complicated relationship between Vincent and his brother will be shown Wednesday. March 27.
“At Eternity’s Gate,” depicting a troubled Van Gogh in his final years will be shown Wednesday, April 24.
The moderator, Dr. Arenberg, is a retired ear surgeon living in Fountain Hills. He has studied Van Gogh for over 40 years. Arenberg is the author of the Killing Vincent Trilogy. Additionally, a movie script and screen-pilot bible for Arenberg’s “Finally Love” are currently being reviewed as a potential eight-episode mini-series of his work.
Each movie starts at 3p.m. at the Fountain Hills Community Center, 13001 N. La Montana Drive. Pre-registration is required, and space is limited. The series is free for Community Center members or $5 each for non-members. Call the Community Center at 480-816-5200 to register.
